All Berthold and Adobe Berthold fonts downloaded from www.bertholdtypes.com are PostScript Type 1 fonts (not True Type fonts) which require Adobe Type Manager (ATM) for installation. ATM Light is available free of charge from http://www.adobe.com/products/atmlight/download.html

Windows 2000 does not require ATM.
To install fonts:
Programs -> Settings -> Control Panels -> Fonts
Under the File menu is the option "Install new font..."

You can choose to either copy the new font into the font folder or create an alias/shortcut by unchecking the copy box.

To install Berthold or Adobe Berthold fonts on your PC (Windows/NT but NOT Windows 2000):
1. Quit all applications.

2. Verify that you have all four file parts (inf, pfb, pfm and afm) for each weight.

3. Launch Adobe Type Manager (Light or Deluxe).

4. If you are using ATM Deluxe, you also will need to create a new set in which to install the fonts or select an existing set to add to.

5. Select the fonts you wish to install, then click the "Add" button.

6. If you are using ATM Deluxe, activate the fonts if they are not activated by checking the box next to the font name. If you are using ATM Light, the fonts are automatically activated.

To install Berthold or Adobe Berthold fonts on your Macintosh:
1. Quit all applications.

2. Verify that you have both parts of the PostScript font: the bitmapped screen font and the outline printer font. (Each individual screen font family member will have its own outline printer font.)

3. Launch ATM.

4. Select the font set folder in which to install fonts and click the font suitcase icon on the bottom right. A dialogue box will appear from which you choose the fonts you wish to add.

5. Select all the fonts you wish to install then click the "Done" button.

6. Activate the font set if it is not already activated by highlighting the font folder set and then clicking the "I" button on the bottom left ("Activate" button on older ATM versions) or by clicking the small dot to the left of the font folder.

Note: If you wish to install the entire font family, you only need to select the .fam suitcase, not each individual weight.

If you are not using ATM Light or Deluxe, drag all the matching font parts (screen fonts and printer fonts - you do not need to drag the afm files) to the closed System Folder and drop them in. A message will appear stating that the font needs to be stored in the appropriate place. Click OK.
